Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe is located on the Champs-Elysees.  It was built in 1806 to honor those who lost their lives in the French Revolutionary War along with the Napoleonic Wars.

It was a beautiful day in the city today – which meant I could finally get back out on my bike.  I decided the route I had shown a week or so ago probably wasn’t the best move again, so I found a street that hit a suburban area pretty quickly.  I just had to get there…

I ended up taking a turn too early and was riding on a highway.  After a few on and off ramps, I was able to turn around and head back towards the city.  I decided I would take the time to just ride around the city.  My first stop would be the Colosseum, but I was forced to turn before and ended up on the street I HAD intended on riding on… funny how things work.  I was already pretty far into my ride, so I just turned around and headed to the Colosseum.  There was a long parade of police cars escorting what looked to be some sort of diplomats.

I rode around the Historic center (which made me appreciate my carbon frame at home considering it was mostly cobble stones..).  A beautiful day and eventful ride!
