The Arabian Desert covers roughly 2,330,000 square kilometers – making this vast expanse of sand one of the largest of its kind. Dubai rests along one of the eastern borders of the Desert and is virtually surrounded by the Desert.
To go from extreme poverty to extreme wealth is a HUGE shock to the system. It was definitely a lot to comprehend in a short amount of time, but didn’t take away from our time in Dubai.
Our layover was roughly 10 hours, so we decided to go on a short desert safari, which included driving around on some sand dunes, camels, and a traditional Arabian dinner. We even took a short stroll through the Dubai Mall, to get a chance to see the Burj Khalifa, or the tallest building in the world!
